One of the most major sources of traffic is the search engine traffic. And since it’s (probably) your main source of traffic, you need to take it seriously. And that is why we here at Calug made a list of the best WordPress plugins for SEO (and some other online tools).
Yoast SEO for WordPress
If you’ve been blogging for a while you might have heard of this plugin. And you should have expect it to have made it into this list.
What we like about Yoast SEO is that it handles almost all of your SEO needs. It makes it easy to change the title, meta description, keywords and the url slug on pages and posts.
What it’s great about this plugin is that it features a real time page analysis functionality. Which gives feedback about the level of SEO and readability optimization.
WP Super Cache
This plugin generates static html files from your dynamic WordPress blog. This means the site will load faster since the number of request from the user to the server will be drastically reduced.
But what does a website speed optimization have to do with SEO?
That is because website speed is a really important ranking factor. And since we want higher rankings, this plugin would greatly help with SEO as well as user experience.
Google Analytics Dashboard for WP
One thing we need to constantly do is check our visitor statistics. That way we gain useful data about our user which can help us to better understand them.
For that reason we use some form of analytics service, such as Google Analytics. But back and forth from managing your blog to checking the site analytics takes up a little chuck of our time.
And this is where Google Analytics Dashboard for WP comes in.
It displays all your analytics reports inside the WordPress dashboard without needing to go away form WP (see screenshot below).
But it gets better!
It also adds other custom reports other that the default ones Google Analytics provides. It provides in-depth Page and Post reports to allow further segmentation of your data.
Google Keyword Planner
This tool is offered by Google and offers insights about what people are actually searching for. Created to help advertisers with their ad campaigns, it’s a great tool for keyword researching as well.
With this tool you can go ahead and get ideas about what keywords to rank for.
AutoSuggest by Tool Feast
As much as we love Google Keyword Planner, it is hard to get some long tail keywords from it. This is where AutoSuggest by Tool Feast comes in as a great tool for every website owner out there.
This tool gathers lots and lots of keywords from your seed keyword. After gathering all the long tail keywords it displays useful data around them such as: search volume, search trends, CPC, live SERPs etc.
To use it you just need to create a free account at Tool Feast and you can use this tool as much as you want.
Broken Link Checker
If have been blogging for some time now, some links from your older posts/pages might be broken. This makes the user experience on your site worse and affects SEO as well.
Broken Link Checker helps you will finding those broken links by scanning your entire site. It monitors links from posts, pages, comments, blogrolls etc.
It even detects missing images and redirects.
These are only some of the SEO plugins and tools out there. But these are almost must-haves for any blog out there.
They’ve been battle tested time after time, in exception of AutoSuggest since it’s a brand new tool. But we thought it would be worth a mention because of its features, and most of all because it’s FREE.
Hope you have enjoyed this article.
