Time to install Google Analytics on your WordPress site
There are several ways you can go about to insert the Google Analytics code on WordPress:
- Pasting it inside the theme header/footer code
- Functions.php method
- Plugins method
For simplicity we are going to look into the plugins method since it is the easiest one.
Go to Plugins > Add New and search for WP Insert Code (or download from here). Then install and activate the plugin.
To access the plugin from your WP dashboard, go to Settings > WP Insert Code and paste the code on the header text field. Then to save it, hit the save changes button.
Now Google Analytics is active and ready to record all the traffic that goes to your website.
Google Analytics Dashboard for WP
Another great way to install Google Analytics would be to install the Google Analytics Dashboard for WP plugin.
This plugin displays google analytics reports right into your WP dashboard.
The menu item Google Analytics will be created after activating this plugin. Hover over that and then click on General Settings.
On the screen below click on Authorize Plugin.
Then you have to get the access code and pasting it in. After the access code is inserted and saved, you can go on the Home section of the WP dashboard. And look at the Google Analytics Dashboard box.
